Summer Travel Hacks for My Fellow Latina Solo Travelers

Girls, summer is approaching and I am sure every travel enthusiast is itching to explore a new place. I can bet my horses that you have a tab open in your browser dedicated to your upcoming travel plans.

There is just something so fascinating about traveling in summer and getting ourselves a good dose of vitamin-Sun. The glimmering beaches, the cold pool water, the cool shade of tropical trees, and let’s not forget the fresh juices made from exotic fruits. If you’re dreaming of a perfect tropical escape, check out some Tahiti package deals that offer the ultimate getaway. I am already on cloud nine, imagining all that.

For most of us corporate-slaves, travel is a major stress reliever, and if you are solo-travelling then you need to take extra precautions to keep it stress-free. I have compiled some travel hacks, tried and tested by me and my fellow female solo travelers, which can enhance your vacation. These hacks require planning but can do wonders in making your trip a good one. Even if you are traveling within or outside the US, these hacks are a great help in both scenarios.

1.      Invest in a Luggage Tracker

Luggage is your home when you are traveling, so it is essential to take the necessary measures to keep your metaphorical home safe. Luggage trackers are great to do that. They are not heavy on the pocket but can do wonders for your peace of mind.

Airlines often mess up your luggage, so in this case, you can easily track your luggage using a phone to locate it.

2.      Make Sure You Have a Good Internet

Remaining connected even when you are on the go can be great a source of peace of mind. Having mobile data means you are easily traceable to your friends and family, which should make you feel safer.

I have found Xfinity mobile and the internet to be the most useful for me. If you’re going on a road trip, you can use its millions of hotspots, available throughout the US which lets you use free and reliable WiFi. If you are taking an international trip, you can sign up for its data roaming, available for its mobile network users. For more information, you can contact the Xfinity en español support.

3.      Keep Your Luggage Odor-Free

Laundry is a privilege not many of us get while traveling so we often have to resort to carrying our dirty clothes around with us. This can cause odor in your bag or suitcase which is a situation all of us would like to avoid. I put leftover hotel soap or dryer sheets in my laundry bag. This can ensure no stink emanates from your bag.

4.      Arrive During Daytime

If you are a solo traveler then I would recommend you plan your travel in such a way that you reach your destination in day time. This way you will not have to explore around or find your hotel in the dark and you can be safe from any potential harm.

Another thing you can do is take populated routes and have a handy Taser with you, to deter attention from weirdos.

5.      Skip Restaurants and Eat Cheap

Saving money on food and spending it on an experience is always a good idea. Local grocery stores are great for stocking up on bottles and snacks. Getting street food but away from tourist locations is also a great way to eat authentic and affordable.

If you want to eat at a Michelin-star restaurant, go at a time when there is no rush hour. You are bound to get a cheaper meal.

6.      Scan Your Documents

This one is for international travel. It is always a good idea to scan all of your travel documents, email the copies to yourself, and save them offline on your phone. This hack comes in handy in the unfortunate case of a misplaced passport.

If you have a scanned copy of your passport, it is easier to get a new one.

7.      Pack a Duct Tape

A duct tape has proved to be a lifesaver for me in many instances. Carry it all or wrap some of it around a plastic bottle while packing. It comes in handy for torn-up or broken luggage or travel gear.

You can also use it to cover up any blinking lights if you like sleeping in complete dark. It also prevents your thighs from chafing if you are planning to walk a lot in the sun.

Wrapping Up

Traveling alone is a major feat for us Latina women. It is a big step in gaining our independence and getting to finally know ourselves on a deeper level. Keeping these hacks in consideration while traveling can ease the process for us and we can just focus on having the time of our lives.

Additionally, most of these hacks are great at enabling us to rely on ourselves in case of a misfortune or a minor glitch. We won’t have to run to the hotel reception or risk getting scammed by asking for help from a stranger.
